Losing to ERA Nymburk in the first week of this year’s Basketball Champions League Regular Season, Promitheas Patras put the ghosts away by exiting RASTA Vechta’s home victorious at 88-86 in a thrilling encounter.

KJ Williams was Ilias Papatheodorou’s highest scorer with 21 points and 5 rebounds off the bench. Wes Iwundu not only put up 16 points for his team but also made the decisive and winning go-ahead bucket. Former Olympiacos guard Michail Lountzis didn’t start the game as well but quickly brought experience, helping Promitheas with 14 points in a great shooting night (5/8 FG, 2/2 FT).

Jayden Gardner continued to be RASTA Vechta’s main player of reference with 16 points, while Tyger Campbell had an exciting double-double of 13 points and 12 assists.

2005-born center Johann Grünloh had once again another promising encounter in his first season in the Basketball Champions League, putting up 14 points over 6/10 from two-point range.

The Greek side started the game well and already reached a huge 17-point lead (33-16) entering the second quarter. Trying to come back into the picture, the Germans even found a lead at 83-82 late in the fourth quarter, but ultimately couldn’t succeed. They turned the ball over 13 times.

Considering ERA Nymburk’s yesterday’s win against Galatasaray, the situation in Group D now sees the Czech side on top with a 2-0 record, followed by both Promitheas and the Turkish team at 1-1. Martin Schiller’s newcomers, instead, are winless at the bottom.
