BCL Regular Season Week 2 Recap: It’s the Saben Lee show

By Cesare Milanti / info@eurohoops.net

Basketball Champions League fans are sad because they won’t enjoy Saben Lee’s offensive show anymore in the competition. He’s set to join Maccabi Tel Aviv in the competition but made sure to leave a mark before leaving Manisa, helping them get to 2-0 in Group H.

He indeed had an all-time scoring record of 43 points against FMP SoccerBet, in Belgrade. With such a victory, the Turkish team can look from above on every opponent in Group H, starting from UCAM Murcia. Last year’s bronze medalists are just behind after winning in Greece against Peristeri.

Wednesday was the night where another American guard went off for a Turkish newcomer in the competition, as Breein Tyree put up a personal season-high 33 points in Aliaga Petkimspor’s win over his former team Filou Oostende. In Group B, Unicaja stays also at the top after beating King Szczecin.

On the same night, Promitheas Patras bounced back following last week’s defeat at the hands of ERA Nymburk, which is now on top of Group D after winning again, this time against Galatasaray. The only team that isn’t enjoying this start of the season in such a group is RASTA Vechta, winless at 0-2.

On Tuesday night, both encounters in Group A were played, leaving Wurzburg on top with two straight victories in the Basketball Champions League. This week, they showcased an offensive show over Igokea, while Nanterre recovered from last week’s loss by beating Hapoel Holon.
