Down two guards early in the 2024-25 campaign, Manisa looking for immediate replacements locked into Troy Brown Jr.
Brown, 25, signed with the Turkish club, as announced on Friday.
Either officially out or ready to part ways with the team coached by Ertug Tyzcukaya, both Javon Freeman-Liberty and Saben Lee were key parts of the roster to start the ongoing installments of the Basketball Champions League and Turkiye Basketbol Super Ligi.
Carrying experience from the NBA as well, Brown is teaming up with Leon Apaydin, Hugo Besson, Martynas Echodas, Cengizhan Ivedi, Jamorko Pickett, Yunus Sonsirma, Fabian White Jr., Mehmet Yagmur, and Ahmet Yilmaz at Manisa.
A former Oregon standout, he was selected with the 15th overall pick of the 2018 NBA draft by the Washington Wizards. Over the next six years, he logged 372 appearances in the league, including 15 in the Playoffs. Besides the Wizards, he went on to the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers, before splitting the 2023-24 season between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons.
Last season, the American shooting guard tallied 4.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.1 blocks per contest over 59 games played.
Starting Group H of the BCL Regular Season with two wins, Manisa took the lead over FMP Soccerbet, UCAM Murcia, and Peristeri Domino’s for a direct ticket to the Round of 16. Teams ranking second and third in the group will get a second chance through a best-of-three Play-In series.
