Wurzburg saw Nymburk and Manisa progressing to a 3-0 record yesterday in the Basketball Champions League while keeping an eye opened to the amazing showdown displayed simultaneously in Malaga, and they didn’t want to miss the party.
First escaping, then being recovered, and ultimately regaining the lead in Nanterre, the German side won 88-83, remaining perfect in the competition thus far. They did so with 22 second-chance points.
As proven in the first two games of his Basketball Champions League debuting year, Zac Seljaas was on another level for the Germans. He went close once again to the double-double by putting up 27 points and 9 rebounds in France, but he wasn’t enough to get the win.
Sticking with Wurzburg, Jhivvan Jackson came up clutch down the line, making his first three-point shot out of five attempts in the game’s final minutes. He finished with 16 points and 9 assists, while Mike Davis Jr. continues his solid scoring stretch, as he dropped 19 today.
Nanterre was vastly helped by Frank Jackson’s 19-point contribution over 5/9 from deep. His playmaking partner Ahmad Caver scored the same amount with 6/7 from the field.
Yesterday, Group A action saw Hapoel Holon beat Igokea 92-82 by displaying a solid collective effort with four players finishing in double-digits. Right now, Wurzburg looks at everybody from above at 3-0.
