Darius Mc Ghee scored 23 points, Phlandrous Fleming Jr had 22, and they led a balanced effort by Telekom Baskets Bonn which got the 86-78 win over Maccabi Ramat-Gan in Group E of the Basketball Champions League.
Til Pape added 13 points and Thomas Kennedy also scored in double digits with 10 points as Bonn is now tied for the top of the Group standings with AEK at 2-1.
Amir Stevens with 23 points and Adam Ariel with 17 were the top scorers of the losing side.
The game was held in Opava, Czechia, due to the situation in Israel, and Maccabi was outplayed from the first moment, as Bonn opened the first period leading 26-12 and didn’t have much to worry about after that.
Getting up by 20
The guests’ halftime advantage was 17 points (53-36) and despite the hosts’ effort, nothing spectacular happened after that. Bonn led by 20 twice (29-49, 58-38) and by 18 points (66-48) just before the end of the third period which was completed with a 66-52 score.
Maccabi tried to turn things around in the last quarter and made it a 7-point game (72-65) after a three by Roy Huber.
Bonn answered back with a quick 5-0 run (77-65) and with one minute and a half left, Maccabi made a last effort, trimming the lead to six (77-71) after a shot by Yahel Melamed. Still, Bonn got the lead back to 10 (83-73) and the game was over.
