There’s not much to report when the final score is 105-59. Still, it was a memorable game for Manresa which sent a statement to the whole of the Basketball Champions League Group G.
Derrick Alston with 30 points in 22 minutes led the charge for the winning side that never took the foot out of the gas and thanks to a three by Mario Saint-Supery, just three seconds before the final buzzer got the biggest point difference in the game.
DeAndre Lansdowne scored 15 points for the losing team, which committed 29 turnovers, a testament to Manresa’s defensive effort.
An avalanche
From the first period, it was obvious that Manresa was dominating jumping to a 26-11 lead. The halftime score (44-31) was pretty tame and the Niners were reacting.
In the third period, however, Alston and Manresa took over for a 65-43 lead and in the last 10 minutes the Niners simply stopped playing.
A moment of silence was held before the start of the game in memory of the victims of the deadly floods that devastated Spain.
