Maccabi Ramat-Gan started tonight’s matchup against Telekom Baskets Bonn in the most perfect of ways, leading even by 10 points and keeping the head of the game until the beginning of the second half.
Then, Telekom Baskets Bonn found back its fighting spirit, entering an 8-0 scoring run to regain the advantage and concluding the encounter still standing on top. At the final buzzer, the score was 80-76.
Despite committing 16 turnovers and suffering 18 fast-break points, the 2022-23 Basketball Champions League winners came out on top with Darius McGhee and Phlandrous Fleming Jr. contributing with 14 points a piece. The latter also added 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
Both Till Pape (12 points and 8 rebounds) and Thomas Kennedy (13 points and 9 rebounds) went close to a double-double in their winning effort for Roel Moors’ team tonight.
Amin Stevens had one of the best nights of his overseas career by going close to a double-double with 30 points and 9 rebounds, being almost perfect in two-point shooting at 14/17.
With two games left to play in Group E, both AEK and Telekom Baskets Bonn stand on top with a 3-1 record. Reversely, both VEF Riga and Maccabi Ramat-Gan are currently at 1-3. They will fight for the 3rd place in the standings valid to qualify for the Play-Ins.
