Following the departure of Troy Brown Jr., roughly one month after his arrival, Manisa bounced back into the market and signed Brodric Thomas.
The deal was announced on Saturday.
Thomas, 27, will play overseas after focusing the early stages of his professional career between the NBA and the G League. He logged 44 appearances in the NBA with the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Houston Rockets.
Starting the 2023-24 campaign with the Ontario Clippers, he tallied 10.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.6 blocks per G League game over 20 appearances. Previous G League experience went from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers to the Cleveland Charge and Maine Celtics.
The Truman product, an Illinois native, replaced Brown on the team coached by recent hire Kazys Maksvytis. His new teammates are Leon Apaydin, Hugo Besson, Bugra Cal, Chris Chiozza, Martynas Echodas, Cengizhan Ivedi, Jamorko Pickett, Yunus Sonsirma, Fabian White Jr., Mehmet Yagmur, Mustafa Faruk Yerkazanoglu, and Ahmet Yilmaz.
Manisa leads Group H of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season, on the favorable end of a tie with UCAM Murcia at 3-1. With two games left in the double-legged round-robin schedule, FMP Soccerbet and Peristeri Domino’s trail by two games at 1-3. The top seed will advance directly to the Round of 16, while the next two teams will have a second opportunity through a best-of-three Play-In series.
