Gytis Radzevicius was named Player of the Week in the Basketball Champions League.
After entering the Team of the Week, following the exciting action across the eighth week of the Regular Season, the 29-year-old winger outlasted Terrell Carter, Dylan Ennis, Elijah Mitrou-Long, and Brandon Randolph in the fan vote to decide the Player of the Week.
On Wednesday, in a packed Twinsbet Arena, the hometown hero led the Vilnius outfit to an overtime win against UnaHotels Reggio Emilia. Boosting the bid for the season MVP award, he put in 16 points with 7/10 from the field, seven rebounds, and three assists. Up to 4-1 in Group F, a road win against WKS Slask Wroclaw on December 18 would punch in a direct ticket to the Round of 16.
Earlier in the continental campaign, the reigning Betsafe LKL champions in Lithuania featured two more Player of the Week awards. In Week 5, it was R.J. Cole. Steven Enoch picked up the distinction in Week 7. The remaining nods went to Falco Vulcano Szombathely’s Zoltan Perl between the first and third weeks, Zac Seljaas of FIT/One Wurzburg Baskets in the second week, ERA Nymburk’s Jaromir Bohacik in the fourth week, and Paul Lacombe of Nanterre 92 in the sixth week.
Top 5 Plays
The buzzer-beater by Savion Flagg to force five extra minutes versus Reggio Emilia combined the Player of the Week award with first place in the Top 5 Plays of Week 8 for Rytas.
