Released from his contract with FIT/One Wurzburg Baskets, Mike Davis Jr. signed with fellow Basketball Champions League participant Hapoel Netanel Holon.
The Israeli club officially welcomed the 28-year-old guard on Monday.
Davis averaged 17.8 points per BCL game, including four points in just under 13 minutes against Hapoel Holon last Tuesday in Arena Savaria. Following the Gameday 5 affair, he was released by the German team.
Between the top-tier club continental competition of FIBA Europe and Germany’s easy Credit BBL, he tallied 15.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.5 blocks per contest. He was in the starting lineup of head coach Sasa Filipovski across all features in the continental and domestic leagues.
“We are happy about Mike’s addition to the team,” said his new boss Guy Goodes, “We decided together with the management that we needed another guard effective in defense and productive in offense, so we can play with four guards, similar to the way we started the season.”
“The load of games is only increasing,” added the 53-year-old Israeli head coach, “In the next two months, we have a lot of important games. We want to be prepared and have depth.”
Remaining in Group A of the Champions League Regular Season, Davis switched between co-leaders with Wurzburg and Hapoel Holon tied in first place at 3-2. Heading to the finale of the six-game schedule on December 18, featuring clashes between the Israeli outfit and Nanterre 92 and the German outfit facing Igokea m:tel, the two remaining teams of the group follow at 2-3.
