The 2023 Basketball Champions League winners, Telekom Baskets Bonn, are on the verge of securing first place in Group E during the Regular Season, which would earn them a spot in the Round of 16.
The German team narrowly defeated VEF Riga at home, 78-75, overcoming an excellent performance from Harrison Cleary.
Bonn led for most of the game but trailed midway through the final quarter. However, the hosts managed to regain the lead and held on for the victory despite Cleary scoring 29 points against them.
Bodie Hume led the winning team with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Phlandrous Fleming Jr. contributed 14 points. Jonathan Bahre added 12 points and five rebounds, and Thomas Kennedy recorded an impressive double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
For Riga, Cleary lacked adequate support, with only Vyacheslav Bobrov scoring 14 points and Jaquan Lawrens adding 10 points to also finish in double figures.
Telekom Baskets Bonn now tops Group E with a 4-1 record, followed by AEK Betsson at 3-2. Maccabi Ramat Gan sits third at 2-3, while VEF Riga is in last place with a 1-4 record, leaving the group standings still wide open heading into the final round.
