Before heading to Hungary, WKS Slask Wroclaw didn’t win a single game thus far in the 2024-25 Basketball Champions League Regular Season. In order to stay alive despite their tragic 0-4 record, they had to win by more than 10 points on the road in Szombathely.
Finally, the Polish side managed to pull it off and find the first victory of this campaign, but the score clearly revealed that wasn’t enough. Slask Wroclaw imposed itself 74-67 but got eliminated.
Ajdin Penava, who has now scored in double-figures in each of his last four games in the BCL with Wroclaw, contributed to the road win with a team-high 18-point performance.
He was quickly followed by Marcel Ponitka, who had an all-around night with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Tonight was a tragic game for Falco-Vulcano Szombathely also regarding Zoltan Perl’s personal 20-point stretch, which got interrupted at five consecutive BCL games; the Hungarian playmaker had a 15-point losing effort
The Polish team found itself with the game on its hands following a 12-0 run but ultimately couldn’t keep up the pace to stay ahead by more than 10 points. WKS Slask Wroclaw shot 9/19 from deep.
