Galatasaray officially powers the BCL bid with Michael Young

Michael Young officially joined Galatasaray on Wednesday.

Eurohoops previously reported about the 30-year-old forward nearing a deal with the Lions.

The native a Pittsburgh and former NCAA standout with the Pittsburgh Panthers penned a contract for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

Carrying the experience of 18 games played in the Basketball Champions League, his return to the top-tier club continental competition of FIBA Europe meets Galatasaray awaiting an opponent in a best-of-three series and a bid to clinch a berth in the Round of 16 via the Play-In stage. The next challenge will be Saint-Quentin or Turkiye Basketbol Super Ligi rival Karsiyaka.

Young previously displayed his talents in the BCL through JDA Dijon in 2019, Arged BM Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski in 2021, and Bursaspor Info Yatirim in 2023.

Coming out of Pittsburgh, he played in the G League with the Delaware 87ers and the Northern Arizona Suns. The early stages of his professional career also featured a two-way contract with the Washington Wizards but did not generate an appearance in the NBA.

Using overseas options led him to Puerto Rico before landing in France for Cholet for the 2018-19 season. After a spell in China, he returned to France and joined Dijon at the top of the 2019-20 campaign and moved on to Hapoel Gilboa Galil midway through the season. Staying in Israel, he focused on Ironi Nahariya for the 2020-21 journey. Poland and Stal Ostrow Wielkopolski covered the 2021-22 expedition. After spending the 2022-23 season in Japan, he moved to Turkiye in Bursaspor for the 2023-24 campaign. Following a return to Puerto Rico, he is back in Turkiye with the team based in Istanbul.
