Peristeri dreamed of an upset tonight in Italy, but despite their 12-point lead in the second half, they couldn’t surprise Derthona with the road win to go up 1-0 in the Play-Ins.
Walter De Raffaele’s team bounced back with a 16-0 run and eventually went home with the final 69-59 victory which means keeping the home-court advantage in the best-of-three series.
With Christian Vital not living the best of his nights in Derthona, Tommy Kuhse took over and almost finished with a double-double of 16 points and 9 assists in tonight’s win.
CJ Harris had a losing effort of 17 points for the Greek side.
Neoklis Avdalas, who’s expected to be featured in Greek basketball’s future, had 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.
With another victory next week, Bertram Derthona will reach not only AEK Betsson BC and FIT/One Wurzburg Baskets in Group I of the Round of 16, but also the winner of another Play-Ins clash between Karsiyaka and Promitheas Patras.
