Ufuk Sarica stated that he’s stepping down as Pinar Karsiyaka head coach after the loss to Promitheas Patras at home in Game 1 of the Basketball Champions League best-of-three Play-In series.
“It is with great sadness that I must announced that due to the current circumstances and conditions the club is facing, I have mutually agreed with the club management to step down from my position as head coach – a role that I carried out with great honor and pride for nearly five years,” Sarica said.
Karsiyaka has been dealing with several problems recently, including a wave of high-profile departures like Errick McCollum, James Webb III, Jerry Boutsielle and Kenan Sipahi. The team is 5th in the Turkish BSL standings at 8-4.
This was Sarica’s second stint with Karsiyaka after 2012-16. He had then led the team to a stunning run towards winning the Turkish BSL championship title in 2015.
