In their first-ever Basketball Champions League campaign, last year, Bertram Derthona Basket couldn’t advance through the Play-Ins, being swept by Galatasaray.
In their second-ever BCL participation, things went differently despite still having the home-court advantage. After winning Game 1 at home, the Italian side won Game 2 73-65 to eliminate Peristeri.
Derthona keeps getting pushed by the Christian Vital-Tommy Kuhse backcourt. The former had 17 points and three rebounds to seal the deal, while the latter followed with 16 points.
The Greek side, which finished fourth in the BCL Final Four 2024 in Belgrade, couldn’t keep pace with Jarell Eddie’s 17-point performance, which included 4/8 from deep and 7/7 from the line.
Finally getting their revenge after last year’s elimination in the Play-Ins with the sweep suffered against Galatasaray, Bertram Derthona Basket has now reached Group I of the Round of 16.
Walter De Raffaele’s team will now meet AEK, Wurzburg, and the winner of the Play-In series between Karsiyaka and Promitheas. The Greek side is highly favorite after winning Game 1 on the road.
