Winning the 2023-24 Basketball Champions League wasn’t enough for Unicaja Malaga, who entered the 2024-25 season with an unbeaten 6-0 run in the Regular Season.
Qualifying directly for the Round of 16, they ended up drawn in Group J, going up against one of the surprises of the season for the first clash: Manisa Basket.
Gaining control over the encounter two times, at the beginning right after the tip-off and once the second half began, Ibon Navarro’s team eventually prevailed 91-73 in front of their fans.
Kendrick Perry was called up to a difficult challenge, going up against a solid backcourt composed of Hugo Besson and Saben Lee, but last year’s Final Four MVP still finished with 10 points. Killian Tillie led Malaga in scoring off the bench with 14 personal points.
Talking about Manisa’s exciting guards, the former Maccabi Tel Aviv player closed with 19 points, while the French playmaker had 10 points. Fabian White contributed with 23 points and 8 rebounds.
The clash between Unicaja and Manisa concluded today’s Group J action, which already opened earlier in the day with Rytas Vilnius enjoying a huge 20-point win over Galatasaray at home.
