UCAM Murcia reached last year’s Basketball Champions League Final Four – finishing with a bronze medal around their necks – with a well-oiled machine.
This year, keeping the vast majority of their core, things are going well again, as they opened the competition’s Round of 16 as easy as it got, beating Nanterre 95-84.
The backcourt composed of Ludvig Hakanson (16 points and 5 assists) and Dylan Ennis (18 points) was crucial tonight, as they both contributed by combining for an 8/12 from beyond the arc.
On Nanterre’s side, Desi Rodriguez had yet again another solid performance at 14 points and 6 rebounds for his team; Ahmad Caver added 17 points in his team’s defeat.
The French team looked promising entering the game on the road in Spain, following up on their Play-Ins victory with an eight-point lead (24-16) at the end of the first quarter. But it wasn’t sufficient.
UCAM Murcia has now joined ERA Nymburk on top of Group L following Francesco Tabellini’s amazing 106-86 win on the road in Szombathely. Nanterre 92 stays at the bottom with Falco-Vulcano.
