Kostas Antetokounmpo signed a contract for the remainder of the 2024-25 season with UCAM Murcia.

The Universitarios officially confirmed his addition on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old center is set to debut in the Basketball Champions League and Spain’s Liga Endesa.

Back in the 2020-21 season, Alex Antetokounmpo started his professional career with Murcia. Among other younger brothers of the leading player of the Milwaukee Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and a former NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020, Kostas was released from Panathinaikos Aktor on Tuesday. His stint with the storied Greek club produced a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague championship alongside a domestic league title in Greece’s Stoiximan Basket League through the 2023-24 campaign. In the 2024-25 journey, he was slowed down by injuries and settled into reduced playing minutes.

Coming out of Dayton in 2018, he was selected with the 60th overall pick of the NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers and immediately traded to the Dallas Mavericks. Between the Mavs and the Lakers, he logged 22 appearances in the league based in North America. Pursuing options in the EuroLeague, he was featured in 75 games of Europe’s premier club continental competitions, spread from the Greens to earlier spells with Fenerbahce Beko and LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne.

Starting the week, Murcia announced the departure of Troy Caupain on Monday. The 29-year-old point guard, a veteran of 51 BCL games, was released from his contract upon mutual agreement.

Sito Alonso’s side currently sits 1-1 in Group L of the Champions League Round of 16 and 9-11 in the ACB Regular Season.
