Following a two-year contract in 2023, Jamar Smith penned a one-year extension with UnaHotels Reggio Emilia.

The deal was announced on Thursday.

In Europe for the majority of his career, his success was highlighted by winning the 7DAYS EuroCup in 2017 and being named Most Valuable Player of the 2020-21 EuroCup season. After introducing himself to the Basketball Champions League with Bahcesehir Koleji in 2022, he switched to Pallacanestro Reggiana in 2023 and resurfaced in the ongoing installment of the BCL, tallying 9.8 points and 1.3 rebounds per contest over ten appearances with the team coached by Dimitris Priftis.

“I am grateful and excited to have renewed my contract and I look forward to continuing this fantastic journey here in Reggio Emilia,” commented Smith, “I would just like to say that I appreciate the trust and support that I have received daily from everyone involved in this organization and that my way of repaying it is to commit and give my best every day. So, as always, we just have to keep working.”

Battling for a spot in the Quarterfinals of the Champions League, the Italian club carries a 2-2 record in Group K of the Round of 16. A one-game advantage over BAXI Manresa and Aliaga Petkimspor sets up crunch time with two fixtures remaining in the six-game double-legged round-robin schedule, while La Laguna Tenerife leads the standings at 4-0.

Elsewhere in the BCL field, FIT/One Wurzburg Baskets announced an agreement with Tyrese Williams for the early termination of his contract on Thursday. Debuting in European club continental competitions, the 24-year-old guard averaged 4.4 points per contest over ten appearances.
