La Laguna Tenerife already successfully clinched a spot in the Basketball Champions League Quarter-Finals last week, joining AEK as the only two teams capable of qualifying in four games.
However, they didn’t slow down at all heading to Aliaga to face Petkimspor on the road, as Txus Vidorreta’s team made a statement by winning 85-80 in Turkiye.
The spotlight was surprisingly taken by the 2003-born Bulgarian forward Konstantin Kostadinov, who had his career-high night with 22 points after not playing a single minute last week.
This week, Tenerife witnessed the debut of the Estonian newcomer Henri Drell, who had 5 points.
Petkimspor tried to stay in contention with Damyean Dotson (15 points), Wesley Van Beck (14 points), and DeWayne Russell (13 points and 10 assists), but it wasn’t enough against the two-time champs.
While Tenerife is already sure about making the Quarter-Finals with home-court advantage, on top of Group K with a 5-0 record, Aliaga Petkimspor can still hope to qualify thanks to BAXI Manresa’s victory on Tuesday against Reggiana.
