Derthona interrupted AEK’s winning streak in the BCL Round of 16

With AEK already qualified for the Basketball Champions League Quarter-Finals after four games in Group I, the black-and-gold side didn’t need to come out victorious tonight in Italy to keep moving.

At the same time, a home victory would have been super important for Derthona, who already made the club’s history by getting to this stage of the competition in their second-ever BCL campaign.

Walter De Raffaele’s team can now keep the hopes high after this 83-82 win over the Greeks, which secured home-court advantage in the Quarter-Finals despite the loss.

As it happened already several times this season, Christian Vital was crucial offensively for Derthona, scoring 14 points with 7 rebounds. Justin Gorham led the team in scoring with 16 points.

On AEK, Mindaugas Kuzminskas led the way with 21 points and 7 rebounds, assisted by Prentiss Hubb (18 points and 8 assists) and Hunter Hale (19 points).

In the other matchup of the night, history was written in Wurzburg, as Jordan Walker broke the All-Time BCL scoring record with 54 points dragging Promitheas to the 119-115 win in double overtime.
