Entering the latest week of action in the Basketball Champions League Round of 16, only three teams were sure about playing in the Quarter-Finals, having already grabbed the home-court advantage: AEK, Unicaja, and Tenerife. Five more teams jumped on board.
Respectively joining the three teams mentioned before in Group I, Group J, and Group K, Derthona, Galatasaray, and Reggiana got into the poll of the best eight teams in the whole competition.
It’s the first time for both Italian teams, which respectively beat Wurzburg and Petkimspor in front of their own fans to celebrate such historic goals for the clubs. It’s also the first time for Galatasaray, which managed to win the Turkish derby with Manisa, while Rytas couldn’t beat Unicaja in Vilnius.
Ultimately, Wednesday delivered action in Group L as well, with ERA Nymburk and Nanterre 92 going through as first and second placed teams; UCAM Murcia, which won bronze last year, got eliminated.
