Marcelinho Huertas leads BCL Team of the Round of 16

The Basketball Champions League Round of 16 is now complete, with the Quarter-Finals set to begin next week.

To recognize the top performers from this stage, the BCL has announced the Team of the Round of 16. The MVP of the Round of 16 will be revealed on Friday.

Last season’s MVP, Marcelinho Huertas of Lenovo Tenerife, is joined by Tyson Carter (Unicaja), James Palmer Jr. (Galatasaray), Desi Rodriguez (Nanterre 92), and Grant Golden (AEK Betsson BC) as the standout players from this phase of BCL Season 9.

Huertas helped Lenovo Tenerife maintain their perfect record this season, scoring 27 points in 23 minutes against Pallacanestro Reggiana, followed by 18 points on the road at BAXI Manresa. He also recorded 9 points and 9 assists against Aliaga Petkimspor and closed this stage with 22 points and 8 assists on the road in Reggio Emilia.

Tyson Carter stepped up for Unicaja during this phase, delivering a memorable 26-point performance in just 19 minutes against Rytas Vilnius. He was also the game-winner for Unicaja against Galatasaray and Rytas once again, averaging 14.7 points in just 21 minutes per game over these six matches.

James Palmer Jr. powered Galatasaray, averaging 14.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5 assists during the Round of 16. He nearly secured a triple-double against Manisa Basket Divissa, finishing with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists.

Desi Rodriguez played a crucial role in Nanterre’s success. He scored 20+ points in three of the last four games, averaging 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.0 steals per game during this phase.

Rodriguez and Nanterre will face AEK Betsson in the Quarter-Finals, where they will go up against Grant Golden. Golden reached double figures in scoring in his last five Round of 16 games, after doing so only twice in the first seven BCL games. He averaged 13.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game in this phase.
