Ibou Badji joins Tenerife until the end of the season

La Laguna Tenerife has signed center Ibou Badji until thos summer, as the club officially announced.

The 22-year-old center arrives from the Wisconsin Herd of the NBA G League and is expected to join his new teammates this weekend.

Born in Senegal, Badji developed in Barcelona’s youth system, granting him homegrown player status. He started his career at the NBA Academy in Thies, Senegal, before attending various training camps in Australia and the United States, eventually signing with Barcelona as a junior.

After playing two seasons (2019–21) with Barcelona’s B team in LEB Plata, Ibou made his ACB debut in the 2020/21 season. He was later loaned to Força Lleida in LEB Oro for the 2021/22 campaign, where he helped the team qualify for the Final Four, averaging 8.4 points and 4.3 rebounds.

From there, Badji began his journey in the NBA G League, playing for the Wisconsin Herd (twice) and Rip City Remix. Along the way, he also made his NBA debut with the Portland Trail Blazers, appearing in 22 games last season.

This year, during his return to the Wisconsin Herd, he averaged 5.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks, with an efficiency rating of 12.5, across 48 games.
