The Basketball Champions League arena shifted this weekend as several clubs finalized key roster moves ahead of the upcoming 2026–27 campaign.
In a major headline, 34-year-old Thomas Bropleh completed a nostalgic reunion on Saturday, returning to FC Porto nearly ten years after his initial departure. Having featured in last season’s Qualification Rounds with CSM CSU Raiffeisen Oradea, the American guard now bypasses the preliminary rounds to head straight into the Regular Season. The Liga Betclic champions are slotted into a competitive Group H alongside Asisa Joventut, Bnei PenLink Herzliya, and Telekom Baskets Bonn. Under the expert guidance of head coach Fernando Sa, Bropleh joins a reinforced roster that features Childe Dundao, Corey Allen, Tanner Omlid, James Woodard, Xeyrius Williams, and Andre Bessa.
Porto’s domestic rivals, Benfica, also made waves to bolster their own upcoming Qualifiers bid, securing long-term stability by signing 28-year-old Polish forward-center Aleksander Dziewa, a veteran of 12 Champions League games, to a contract extension that runs through the end of the 2027-28 season. The Portuguese powerhouse also added fresh talent in 24-year-old American guard-forward Luke Barrett.
Activity across teams set to battle for regular-season tickets surged as Opava announced a deal to bring in 27-year-old American forward Ethan Chargois, and Glint Korfez injected youth and continental experience into their lineup by signing 20-year-old Turkish guard Berk Can Akin.
Ahead of their trek in Samokov, the Landau Lions established leadership continuity by locking in head coach Erhan Toker to a one-year contract extension.
