The announcement is official and after 24 years the “Dragon” is back. The deal is for next season, however this return is historic.
As a player, Giannakis has won 14 title with Aris, seven championships, six Greek Cups and also the European Cup. During the same time period he won the gold medal with the national team in Eurobasket 1987 and the silver in Eurobasket 1989.
Born in 1959, Giannakis as a coach led the Greek national team to the Eurobasket 2005 gold and the FIBA World Cup 2006 silver. He has also coached Marousi, Limoges, Olympiacos and the Chinese national team.
