The UCAM Murcia will file a protest against FIBA over the case of Brad Oleson as he did not play the FIBA Champions League game, due to nationality issue.

This was indicated by coach Ibon Navarro, who did not use Oleson for that reason, in yesterday’s win against Israeli Hapoel Holon at the Palacio de Deportes de Murcia.

“We will present a demand so that Brad can play as a Spanish. He has labor rights that can not be ignored”, said the coach. “We will continue to fight so that Brad is considered Spanish. The legal services of the club are in it”.

Oleson, who arrived in Murcia this summer after having been for four and a half years in Barcelona and before in Baskonia and Fuenlabrada, arrived in Spain in 2005 to join the Rosalía de Castro Gallego and four years later acquired the Spanish nationality.

According to FIBA regulations, foreign athletes can apply for the nationality of the country they were born. The same goes for those who have completed their training in it as a homegrown player. Oleson came to Spain when he was 22 years old.
