Believe it or not but once again there was an overtime game in Venice! It looks like there is some kind of magic spell all over the gym, but unfortunately for the hosts, this time, they suffered a loss against AEK (103-101).

It was a close game from the start as the home team took a small lead after the first ten minutes of action (21-15). Outside shooting made the difference in that period as the Italians made five threes. Still at the halftime break the Greeks were able to cut the lead to four (38-34).

With a 7 point lead (77-70) just a few minutes before the end it seemed like the home team will record its second victory. However, AEK didn’t give up as they made a 9-0 run with 1:15 left on the clock and took a 79-77 lead.

Gediminas Orelik had the chance to win the game for Venezia as he stepped to the foul line at the buzzer. The home team had one point deficit (85:84) but the Lithuanian forward hit just one free throw and game went to the overtime.

The key: Delroy James’ dunk with two seconds left in overtime gave the victory to the visiting team. Venezia’s Dominique Johnson took a three-point shot almost at half court, but didn’t have any luck..

Star: Mike Green played a huge role for AEK with 23 points as he was a dominating force in the game against his former club.

Both teams are now square with a 1-1 record.
