The French team led for the entire game and managed to get the 77 – 74 win at home against Estudiantes. Both teams are tied with a 2-1 record.
A 29 – 7 run to start the game was more than enough for Strasbourg. Estudiantes slowed down the hosts after the break but the difference was still big, a 60 – 49 lead for Vincent Collet’s men at the end of the third.
The Spaniards made the comeback and reduced the deficit to one point (73 – 72) with thirty seconds left. Omar Cook, who led Estudiantes in scoring with 14, had the chance to force overtime but he missed a three-pointer attempt.
Miro Bilan made his debut for the hosts. The Croatian came off the bench to collect 16 points and 7 rebounds.
The key: A 24 points difference is too difficult to overcome. Strasbourg’s performance in the first quarter was impressive.
The star: Michael Dixon paced the winners with a double-double (13 points and 10 assists).
