A highly competitive game took place in Spain where the guests defeated Murcia 83 – 78.
Sassari started the game with a 10-0 run but Murcia reacted quickly and they evened the score at 17 with two minutes remaining in the first quarter. Despite Sassari’s great start, at the end of the first half, the Spaniards were leading by two (39 – 37).
After three quarters where neither of the teams mainained their lead, Scott Bamforth took matters in his own hands. The point guard scored 13 points in the last 5 minutes to give his team the first triumph in Basketball Champions League.
The key: The matchup between Clevin Hannah and Bamforth. Murcia’s player scored 21 but the guest made the difference.
The star: Scott Bamforth finished with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Murcia now has a 2-1 record after Sassari’s first win in Group A.
