The Turkish team prevailed over Aris in Istanbul 83 – 61. This was the fourth straight victory for Besiktas after being defeated in the first game, while the Greeks are now with a 2-3 record.
The key: Both teams started “hot” from three-point territory but Besiktas was the team that kept strong shooting from beyond the arc. They finished with 15 three-pointers.
What was a 7 point deficit at the end of the first quarter for the hosts (15 – 22) became a 7 point lead at the break (40 – 33) after a great shooting performance.
They pretty much kept the lead until the end of the match despite Ioannis Athinaiou effort. The combo-guard had 18 points and 6 assists for Aris.
The star: Ryan Boatright paced the winners with 21 points and 7 assists while Jon Diebler dropped 16. Besiktas will remain at the top of Group D.
