Movistar Estudiantes prevailed over medi Bayreuth 90 – 84 on the road. The hosts never had the lead but they reduced a 23-point deficit to force overtime. Now both teams are tied in the standings with 3-2.
After the strong start by the Spaniards (2 – 17), Estudiantes tried to hold the lead for the entire first half (33 – 50 at the break).
The guests had defensive problems as they gave up 27 points in the third quarter but Sylven Landesberg kept his team in front on the scoreboard. A 9-0 run in the last quarter led by Gave York tied the game and send it to overtime.
The key: Estudiantes had a 23-point lead but they lost it. The Spaniards showed attitude and medi Bayreuth scored just two free throws in overtime.
The star: Sylven Landesberg led all scorers with 22 while Sutton added 14 for Estudiantes.
Nate Linhart dropped 21 points and Gabe York 20 for the German side.
