An offensive festival by Ventspils propelled them to a 99 – 74 blowout road win over Gaziantep on the Day 5 of the Basketball Champions League.
That was the Turkish team’s third straight loss in the competition after two wins while Ventspils improved its record to 3-2.
The Latvians were off to a fine start, proceeding to build a comfortable lead and closing the first half up 38-31. The visiting squad stayed “hot” after the halftime break showing no mercy to the hosts as they won the third quarter 33-10.
Gaziantep reacted with a 17-1 run to complicate things a bit in the last period but that was all they could do tonight. Blake Hamilton was on the roll down the stretch, hitting 3-of-3 from deep sealing a victory for Ventspils.
The Key: The Latvians were relentless from the three-point line as they made 13 triples out of 20 attempts (65%).
The Star: Blake Hamilton was just unstoppable for Ventspils tonight. He had 26 points (9/10 from the field) and three rebounds.
Victor Rudd’s double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds was not enough for the hosts.
