MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg triumphed over Gaziantep 86–74 in a comfortable home game. The Turkish were defeated in their first match without Stefanos Dedas as head coach.
The hosts made it clear from the first half that they had things under control as they were leading by 17 at the break (46 – 29).
D.J. White led the Turkish come back effort in the second half. Still, the visitors couldn’t get closer than five points and Ludwigsburg got the easy win. The big man dropped 20 points while Victor Rudd got a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The key: The hosts made a great defensive effort in the first half forcing 14 Gaziantep turnovers and committing just one. Those numbers pretty much decided the game.
The star: Ludwigsburg’s captain Thomas Walkup had a great all around performance with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Johannes Thiemann followed him with 18 points.
The Germans remain with only one lost game in the standings while the Turkish team fell to 2-4 record.
