Pinar Karsiyaka is enjoying their good start of the season in the Basketball Champions League. The Turkish side beat Enisey at home last night. That was Karsiyaka’s fifth win this season as they only loss was against EWE Baskets Oldenburg on Day 3.
The main reason for their winning streak is D.J. Kennedy. The American registered two outstanding performance during the last two gamedays.
Last week he was the MVP as he led his team to a road win in Spain against UCAM Murcia after overtime. He had 30 points and 13 rebounds which was enough for 35 rating.
And last night’s game was also huge for Kennedy as well as he almost got a triple-double. He put up a great show with 23 points, 12 boards, and 8 assists.
“It’s really an honor just knowing how many great players are competing in this league. Every week there are players putting up great performances so to be recognized with such an honor is great”, said mister Kennedy to Eurohoops.
The American guard feels good about his recent form and overall team’s performance.
“I’m very satisfied with my team so far. We have had to overcome so many battles far as injuries and other unfortunate situations within the team… So to be able to have success through all the adversity has been big for us as we continue to get better each game”.
Kennedy is one of the best scorers in the competition, averaging 21 points per game.
“I think a lot of It has to do with my teammates and coaches they do a good job of putting me in situations to succeed and contribute as much as possible for the team”.
Kennedy has a lot of experience, having played in the NBA, China and in Europe. Comparing basketball in China and in Europe is not so easy per him.
“You can’t really make a comparison two different styles of play. In China, there are only two imports per a team so you’re role is a lot heavier than playing in Europe where there’s so much talent around of you, have to know your role.”.
When it comes to a return in the NBA, Kennedy would welcome the chance.
“If the opportunity comes definitely would consider It!”
Next week Kennedy and his team Karsiyaka will be meeting AS Monaco in France. It will be their hardest task to solve as Monaco is the only unbeaten team in the Basketball Champions League.
