After six weeks of action, it is time for a little break in the Basketball Champions League. Due to the FIBA World Cup Qualifications, there will be no games for the next two weeks so it’s a great time to make a little retrospective of the teams that stand out so far into the season.
Points per game
1. Pinar Karsiyaka – 91,8 points per game
2. EWE Baskets Oldenburg – 90 points per game
3. Neptunas Klaipeda – 88, of the5 points per game
Both Karsiyaka and Oldenburg are playing the Group A and they are leading the League in the term of points per game. This a really interesting fact considering that AS Monaco is also part of that group. The Frenchmen are the only unbeaten team in the competition and the best defensive team.
Neptunas is the third-best scoring team in the BCL and they are the team which scored the most points in the single game this season. They stopped at 114 points in the offensive festival against Gaziantep at home on Day 4.
Field Goal Percentage
1. Pinar Karsiyaka – 56,3%
2. AS Monaco – 52%
3. EWE Baskets Oldenburg – 50,3%
The teams that score the most points and have the best field goal shooting percentage are all part of Group A with Karsiyaka and Oldenburg being also part of this second list. They are, by their order in the top three spots of the group standings, Monaco, Karsiyaka, Oldenburg. The French team is taking 62,8 shots per game hitting 32,7 of them. Karsiyaka is taking 61 shots per game and making 34,3 of them and Oldenburg is taking the most shots 63,3 per game nailing 31,8.
Rebounds
1. CEZ Nymburk – 40,5
2. Neptunas Klaipeda – 40
3. Umana Reyer Venezia – 40
When it comes to rebounding, CEZ Nymburk wins by a hair. They average 13,8 offensive boards and 26,7 defensive boards. The Czech team is standing on a 3-3 record so far this season. Neptunas and Venezia are tied with 40 rebounds per game and both teams only have one loss so far this season.
Assists
1. Neptunas Klaipeda – 21
2. Umana Reyer Venezia – 20,8
3. AS Monaco – 20,5
It is no wonder that Neptunas Klaipeda is having the most assist per game as they play uptempo and their players are sharing the ball more than well. This kind of gameplay style put Neptunas to the list of early contenders among Venezia and of course perfect Monaco.
Steals
1. AS Monaco – 11,7
2. Neptunas Klaipeda – 9,7
3. Movistar Estudiantes – 9,3
AS Monaco once again emerges in a crucial stat category. They rely on their defense the most as they steal the ball almost 12 times per game. This kind of defense launched them to the top of the list and keeps them unbeaten.
Neptunas is not only a high scoring team but they are torching their opponents in defense as well as they stealing 9,7 balls per game, and getting easy transition baskets as a result. And when you are in Madrid you have to protect the ball well as Estudiantes is stealing 9,3 balls per game as they made to the Top 3.
