Oostende beat Telekom Baskets Bonn at home 86-84 after an overtime on Day 8 of the Basketball Champions League. The hosts are now on a 4-4 record as this was a second straight victory for them, while Bonn falls to a 2-6 record.
With 3 minutes left in the last quarter, Oostende was up by 68-67. Nemanja Djurisic hit a triple for Bonn’s lead, but Thomas Jakiri tied the game with a 2-point jump shot. Djurisic took the responsibility in the last possession, but he missed a layup and game went into the overtime.
Jean Salumu made the go-ahead and-one with 10.7 seconds left in OT, and Josh Mayo’s potential game-winning three-pointer was a miss as Oostende won the game.
The Key: The second unit saved the day for Oostende. Their bench outscored the opponents 52-25 making a life easier for the first unit.
The Star: Jean Salumu had 22 points for the winning side making 2+1 late in the overtime that sealed the deal for Oostende.
Not enough: Josh Mayo had a huge game for Bonn, but that didn’t cut it. He scored 28 points shooting 6/11 beyond the arc.
