Ventspils triumphed over reigning champions Iberostar Tenerife 71 – 65 on the road. Tenerife ends its winning streak (6-2 record) while Ventspils jumped to 4-4.
The champs led the first quarter since the jump ball and they allowed just 6 points (17 – 6). The Latvians were shooting just 2-of-18 from the floor.
The key: Ventspils completely changed in the second quarter and the reaction was great (29 – 33 at the break).
With one quarter left, Tenerife was still four points behind on the scoreboard. The guests went into an 11 – 2 run starting the fourth to get its second win of the season against the Canaries. Ventspils made 11-of-20 from beyond the arc after the first quarter.
The star: Aigars Skele finished with 19 points while Emmanuel Ubilla had 11 points and 8 assists.
Mike Tobey flirted with the double-double (20 points and 9 rebounds) while Davin White added 14 points.
