Karsiyaka ended its losing streak as they beat Juventus on the road 82-76 thanks to the amazing D.J Kennedy. The Turkish side lost the two previous games, but with this win, they moved up to a 6-3 record.
It wasn’t easy for Aleksandar Trifunovic’s team as they were trailing in the first quarter. The hosts were prepared better as they went on a 15-6 run at the beginning of the match. Trifunovic was forced to take an early timeout in order to wake up his players. That paid off as the team bounced back and took the lead (42-40 at halftime)
Karsiyaka was up by 6 after the third quarter (61-55), but the hosts didn’t raise a white flag. They cut the lead down to one point 67-66 with four minutes left on the clock. The visiting fought back with a quick 7-0 run to close the game.
The Key: The hosts had a rough shooting night as they missed a lot of threes and free throws. They were 11/18 (61,1%) from the foul line and 5/30 (16,6%) from the three-point territory. That pretty much cost them the game.
The Star: D.J. Kennedy put up a show tonight with a strong all-round performance. He had 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assist which was enough for 32 in PIR.
Mindaugas Kupsas was not enough to save Juventus, despite having 15 points and 5 rebounds. Juventus sink to a 2-7 record after 9 weeks of action in the Basketball Champions League.
