With Andy Rautins shooting the lights off Banvit beat AEK at home 78-71. Rautins scored 23 points (7/8 from the 3-point line).
With this win Banvit now jumped to a 7-3 record in the Basketball Champions League. This was the third win in a row for a team coached by Saso Filipovski.
The Turkish side was in control early in the game building a double-digit lead after the first quarter 24-13. However, with Manny Harris leading the way and scoring 12 points AEK cut the lead to 41-36 before the break.
The Key: It was the first quarter that separated the teams tonight. The hosts used the slow start of the Greek team winning the first quarter 24-13 and holding onto that lead.
The Stars: Rautins marked the game with scoring seven three-pointers followed by Adonis Thomas’ 18 points and 5 rebounds.
Not enough: Harris finished the game with 15 points and 5 boards, but that wasn’t good enough for the win.
After two straight victories, the visitors suffered their fifth loss as they now have the 5-5 record.
