Petrol Olimpija is still alive in Group C after getting an important win over medi Bayreuth 79 – 61. The Slovenians jumped to a 4-6 record while the Germans were surprised at home and now stand at 6-4.
The key: Nate Linhart had the chance to tie the game with 30 seconds left but he missed one free throw. Then, De’Mon Brooks committed a no-sense unsportsmanlike foul that was decisive. Assem Marei had the chance to win it but his shot was after the buzzer.
The guests dominated the first half and they headed locker rooms with a 45 – 37 lead. Bayreuth improved considerably in the but the Dragons kept a 6-point advantage at the end of the third (59 – 53).
The hosts made it a close game until the end but finally, Olimpija escaped with the win. Gabe York’s 24 points weren’t enough.
The star: Jordan Morgan finished 15 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks while Talor Battle and Gregor Hrovat contributed with 13 points each for the winners.
