Pinar Karsiyaka advanced to the playoffs after ending UCAM Murcia’s winning streak in Turkey. The hosts got the win 79 – 72 and improved to an 8-4 record while the Spaniards (7-5) will have to wait after falling for the first time in 6 games.
A great first quarter (25 – 15) led Karsiyaka to a double-digit lead that they slightly increased at the half (40 – 29).
The Turkish squad reached its biggest advantage of the game at the end of the third (61 – 44) but the game wasn’t decided yet. UCAM Murcia made it competitive (69 – 63) with three minutes left. Jarrod Jones and DJ Kennedy closed the win from the free-throw line.
The key: Murcia struggled shooting from three-point range until the last quarter, when they got closer on the scoreboard. Clevin Hannah (18 points) and Ovie Soko (17 points) led the guests.
The star: Jones had game-high 26 points and 7 rebounds for the winners while Kennedy was also impressive with 25 and 9. Dominic Waters contributed to the victory with a double-double (10 points and 11 assists).
