Bayreuth with the big road win against Estudiantes

Huge win for medi Bayreuth on the road 76 – 68 over Movistar Estudiantes. The Germans tied the Spaniards in the standings after rising to a 7-5 record. Salva Maldonado’s men won by 5 in the first match-up and they are now in troubles.

The key: Estudiantes failed to score on 5 consecutive possessions and James Robinson (12 points) decided the game with an important three. Sylven Landesberg (13 points) led Estudiantes but struggled in the last minutes with two turnovers and a foul.

The hosts dominated the first half (22 – 35, 16′) but a late 4 – 12 run made it a close contest at the break. Estudiantes continued shooting three-pointers and Bayreuth scored ten consecutive points to take the lead (48 – 50, 26′).

The game was decided at the last minute. The guests took the win despite shooting 5-of-17 from the free-throw line.

The star: Steve Wachalski led Bayreuth in scoring with 16 while De’Mon Brooks added 14. Gabe York scored just 5 points this time.
