The defending champions ended PAOK’s winning streak by getting the 93 – 79 triumph in Tenerife. The Spaniards improved to a 10-2 record while visiting side (5-7) remains right behind Elan Chalon in the standings.
The star: Rosco Allen paced the hosts with a double-double. The Hungarian led his team to the victory with 19 points and 11 boards (7 offensive rebounds). Mike Tobey added 14 and 7 while Mateusz Ponitka contributed with 16 points. Tenerife’s new acquisition Josh Akognon had 12 points in just 9 minutes of action.
Phil Goss Jr had with 15 points for the Greeks.
After a close first quarter (16 – 15), Tenerife erupted offensively and reached a 46 – 39 lead at the break. The high paced game continued in the second half and Allen led the champs to an 18-point lead (74 – 64).
The key: In the fourth quarter, Tenerife’s defense was unbeatable and they let the guests score just three points in five minutes. PAOK cut the lead to single-digits (88 – 79, 40′) but Fotis Katsikaris’ team closed the game the right way.
