Stelmet Zielona Gora got a huge home win over Nanterre 92 85 – 82. The Polish champs (6-7 record) will remain in playoff spots with one week to go in the group stage while Nanterre fell to an 8-5 record.
The key: Vladimir Dragicevic made it a two-possession game with one minute left after a great dime by Thomas Kelati (77 – 73). Edo Muric decided the game with a triple.
After a close first quarter which ended 23 – 19, the hosts erupted reaching a double-digit lead at the half (43 – 31). Zielona Gora shot an impressive 8-of-11 from downtown in the first period.
The French squad tried to make it a competitive game again with a quick 0-6 run starting the fourth (64 – 54, 31′). Nanterre reduced the deficit to just 3 points (71 – 68, 37′) but Zielona Gora bounced back to close the game.
The star: Dragicevic led the winners with 17 points and 6 boards. Martynas Gecevicius (15 p.) and Muric (14 p.) contributed with 4 three-pointers each.
Jamar Wilson’s 25 points and 5 assists weren’t enough and Besiktas clinched the first place in Group D.
