Oostende advances to the Europe Cup with a win over Aris

The sixth defeat in a row for Aris as they lost in Athens against the Belgian champs 70 – 66. Oostende will play the FIBA Europe Cup after finishing in 6th spot in Group D.

The key: Oostende completed a huge comeback despite missing three clutches free throws that would have ended the game. AEK didn’t take advantage of the situation and the Belgian squad escaped with the win.

Aris had a bright start while Oostende struggled offensively. At the end of the first quarter, the hosts were already winning by 15 (22 – 7). The visiting side stroke back in the third quarter and made it a competitive game again (49 – 46 with ten minutes left).

The star: Jean Salumu had 15 points and Elias Lasisi finished with 14 on the winning side.

Ivan Maras’ 20 points weren’t enough for the home team.
