Oldenburg couldn’t put Ludwigsburg in trouble

Oldenburg got a 12-point victory on the road but trailed by 25 in the first leg and its great effort was simply not enough.

EWE Baskets Oldenburg had an impossible mission as MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg was holding a 25-point advantage from the first leg. And despite losing by 12 points (86 – 74), Ludwigsburg got the ticket to the quarterfinals. And there will be a German team in the Basketball Champions League as they will be facing Medi Bayreuth.

The hosts dominated the first half – they took a 12-point lead during the second quarter- but Oldenburg kept fighting and Ludwigsburg was up by just two points at the break (46 – 48).

During the second half, the visiting side realized that didn’t have chances to advance to the next round but they wanted to say goodbye to the BCL on a high note. Rickey Paulding led his team to the win while the hosts were had no reason to push themselves for the win.

Oldenburg’s captain scored 17 points while Maxime De Zeeuw contributed with 16 and 9 rebounds.

Adika Peter-McNeilly led all scorers with 18 and Elgin Cook added 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists for Ludwigsburg.
