Pinar Karsiyaka will play the Basketball Champions League quarterfinals. After trailing by 6 on the road to PAOK last week, they managed to come back, get a 79 – 67 victory and win the series 147 – 141 on aggregate.
With two points up in the overall result (143 – 141), Dominic Waters drove to the basket and decided the knockout round with an amazing layup.
Karsiyaka took control and they were leading by double-digits early in the game (15 – 5, 7′). PAOK struggled shooting from the floor in the first half (11-of-30) and they couldn’t reduce the deficit at the break. With the Greek squad trailing 43 – 33, PAOK improved defensively and took control of the series after cutting Karsiyaka’s advantage to just 2 points (50 – 48, 29′).
Jarrod Jones (24 points and 9 boards) and DJ Kennedy (22 and 7) were there to lead Karsiyaka to a 16 – 2 run and save the game. PAOK tried a late comeback but it wasn’t enough.
Berk Ugurlu also contributed to the victory with 12 points and 8 assists while Phil Goss Jr had 14 points for the losing side.
