The Basketball Champions League announced that Disciplinary Proceedings have been opened against Pinar Karsiyaka, following last night’s (27/3) incidents that took place during the game of the Turkish team against Murcia for the competition’s quarterfinals.

With nearly four minutes left to play, Murcia wing Sadiel Rojas fouled Pinar Karsiyaka guard Berk Ugurlu in transition with a move that was considered to be intentional by Karsiyaka fans. Things got tense between the players of the two teams, a fan threw a shoe at Rojas and then another fan from the courtside seats shoved him. When Rojas interacted with some courtside fans, he got ejected, along with teammates Ovie Soko and Clevin Hannah.

Murcia GM Alejandro Gomez stated that Pinar Karsiyaka “should be automatically expelled” from the competition for the fans’ reactions but also because of the technical problems with the shot clock that created great delays in the match.

Murcia won the game 65 – 79 and got a major advantage ahead of the second-leg game that will be played in Spain next Wednesday (4/4). They now need to simply not lose with a margin bigger than 13 points in order to advance in the Final Four of the competition.
